Photographing an engagement photo session is one of my favorite parts of being a Wedding photographer in Orlando. I absolutely love whenever I get to be behind my camera, but being able to interact with the couple in this way before their wedding day is such a fun & unique experience. There are lots of benefits of an engagement photo session, so let’s dive right in…
1. Get to know more about how to work with your photographer, and how your photographer works.
Let’s be honest – your wedding photographer is one of the most important aspects of your wedding day. You need to find someone who you click well with and can trust. Being able to connect with them before your wedding is a great way to help build that comfort and trust. You’ll be able to see how they work, how they direct, how they tap into their creativity, as well as how well they communicate with you.
2. Get used to being in front of the camera.
Most couples I meet do feel a bit awkward when they first get in front of a lens. For many, this is the first time they have had professional photos done and it can be a little intimidating. But, there is no need to worry! So far every couple I’ve worked with has only experienced a few minutes of that awkwardness. My goal is that by the end of the engagement session you are laughing, having fun, and making enjoyable memories with your future spouse. The gorgeous photos we get from that are a bonus.
3. You can use the photos for your Save the Dates.
This might be one of the most common reasons couples like to get engagement sessions done as soon as possible after booking their wedding photographer. Sending out “Save the Date” is great to help make sure your family & family have plenty of time to clear their calendars for your big day.

4. It’s a fun date.
Having your engagement photos taken is such a great date! You get to get all dressed up and have a unique experience with the person you love. It should be a day full of fun-filled memories. Maybe plan a nice lunch or dinner date afterward to help keep the fun going.
5. You can print the images and have them displayed on your wedding day.
Lots of couples like to use photos from their engagement session as part of their wedding decor. Have photos by the entrance of your venue as guests come in. They will be sure to enjoy getting to see them. Display them at tables during cocktail hour, or use them at your gift table.
6. Print some images from the session and use them as decor throughout your home.
Spruce up your home with photos! Getting photos printed from your engagement session to go along with photos from your wedding is such a great way to get some art onto your walls. A nice photo calendar is a fun addition to a workspace. Or use an album as a nice coffee table book in your living room.
7. They will make great gifts!
Gift some photo prints or albums to family members. Or get the photos printed onto everyday items like coffee mugs or calendars. Parents and Grandparents always LOVE this! You’ll be sure to get a tear or two when they receive such a sweet and sentimental gift.
